Identifying Drain Flies

Drain flies, also called moth flies, are small insects often found in bathrooms, kitchens, and other damp areas. Their fuzzy bodies and wings give them a moth-like appearance. They breed in the organic film found inside drains, where larvae feed and develop. While they do not bite or transmit diseases, they can become a nuisance in large numbers. Control focuses on cleaning drains thoroughly to remove breeding material and reducing moisture sources. Adult drain flies are weak fliers and are often seen resting on walls near sinks and drains.
