Identifying Asian Lady Beetles
Asian lady beetles are beneficial predators that feed on aphids and other plant pests, but they can become household nuisances when they seek shelter indoors during fall and winter. They vary in color from yellow-orange to red and may or may not have black spots. Native to Asia, they were introduced to North America as a biological control agent but have since become invasive in some regions. Indoors, they can stain surfaces and emit a foul odor when disturbed, though they do not damage structures or reproduce inside homes.
