Bats are the only mammals capable of true flight, with wings formed from elongated fingers covered by a thin membrane. They play vital ecological roles, such as pollination, seed dispersal, and insect control. Insectivorous bats consume vast quantities of mosquitoes and agricultural pests, while fruit bats aid in plant reproduction. Bats roost in caves, trees, or buildings, emerging at dusk to forage. Some species migrate seasonally, while others hibernate in winter. Although they are often misunderstood, bats are generally harmless to humans when left undisturbed.
