Pavement Ant:

Pavement ant workers range from 1/16 to 1/8 inch long, while queens measure about 3/8 inch. Their bodies vary from light brown to black, with paler legs and antennae, and are covered in stiff hairs. Indoors, they prefer nesting at ground level near heat sources like heaters, pipes, and machinery. Outdoors, pavement ants commonly nest in cracks in pavement, beside buildings, or under stones. Known for their aggressive behavior, these ants can bite or sting when disturbed. Pavement ants forage for sweets and proteins and can invade homes and businesses, becoming a nuisance in kitchens and food storage areas. Their large colonies and persistent nesting habits make them a common and challenging indoor pest.
