Ground Beetle:

Ground Beetles (family Carabidae) are a large group of mostly beneficial insects that prey on other pests such as caterpillars, aphids, and slugs. Most are black or metallic, with elongated bodies and long legs adapted for running. They are nocturnal hunters, hiding under debris during the day and emerging at night to feed.
While generally considered beneficial, some species may enter homes in search of shelter, becoming a nuisance. Ground beetles do not damage stored food or structures, and control is usually unnecessary. Maintaining outdoor habitats, such as mulched gardens, helps support their pest control role. Entry prevention involves sealing cracks and using weather stripping around doors and windows.
