Identifying Carpet Beetle

Carpet beetles are small insects that are common household pests. While the adult beetles are usually found near windows and feed on pollen and nectar, their larvae are the ones that cause damage. The larvae feed on natural materials like wool, silk, leather, feathers, and even pet hair, making them a threat to carpets, clothing, upholstery, and stored items.

They are often hard to detect because they hide in dark, undisturbed areas like under furniture, in closets, or along baseboards. Signs of infestation include damaged fabrics, shed larval skins, and tiny beetles near windows or lights.

Despite being pests indoors, in nature, carpet beetles help clean up by feeding on dead animals and organic debris.
